So I decided to do the G3 Hemi swap on my 72 road runner and obtained a 2005 Chrysler 300 Hemi car, Stripped the car down to nothing and pulled all the wiring out and was just going to modify the harness to work and eliminate what I don't need. Now I recently picked up a 2008 6.1 hemi so I will be throwing that into the car instead and also got a tr6060 to use instead of the NAG1. The engine came with a ECU from a manual 2010 challenger and the engine wiring harness. I connected the 2010 ECU to the harness but when I look at the modules using WITech the ECU does not show any Data or DTC's but it does show it as online on the can bus and displays some basic info such as the VIN. My question is, can I use the 2010 ECU with the 2005 Harness and other modules or will it not communicate properly because of the bus speed changes from 2008 and up? Can I tune the 2005 ECU to eliminate the need for a TCM and to work with the 6.1 engine or would a 06/07 ECU work better?

THE
HEMI SWAP
COMMUNITY
Welcome to the Hemi Swap Community! We want this to be an open forum where anyone can ask anything about the Hemi engine and doing Hemi Swaps. We find the information can be scattered all over the internet and want this to be a centralized place where we can talk amongst each other and share our questions and answers that may be able to help others going through similar Hemi swap situations. Please be kind to others and help out where you can while getting the information you need. Blake and Mike will be admins and answering questions here as well!

There should not be any issues recalibrating the ECM to run a 6.1. Any competent tuner should be able to do so
2010 is different than the 2005-2008. The ECMs are calibrated differently and are not compatible for a few reasons. Mainly, crank position sensor reluctor wheel, and VVT provisions. The 2005 ECM will run the 2008 6.1 no problems as long as you are using a 2005-2008 wiring harness.
