Ill start this forum off I guess. Ill start by introducing myself and my truck. I am a Staff Sergeant (E6) in the Army currently stationed in Oklahoma. My truck was left to me by my grandfather when he past 20+ years ago. This is the first time I have had the truck in my possession. I sold it to my dad to buy my first car (1999 Mustang) Back then I didn't appreciate the body style that has become my favorite body style. Before my last overseas rotation I had it shipped to me here so I could start driving and working on it with my son, My intent is to pass it on to him when he gets older. I am the 3rd and he is the 4th John Wilkerson so this truck will have belonged to each generation.
I stumbled on the Hemi swaps today and it seems like it would be a good fit for me. I love this body style but would like a modern engine. I considered swapping a cummins in it. However, the Hemi swap has peaked my interest. It is not my daily driver so I have the ability to pull it off the road and slowly work on the swap. I don't have much mechanical experience but I love to learn and pick up on things pretty quickly. Hopefully other people join the forums and I can pick up some knowledge.
Welcome aboard John! And thanks for breaking the ice! We are definitely trying harder to get a community where we can keep record on Hemi swap tips and tricks. That truck should be an awesome Hemi swap candidate. Definitely follow our d150 build! We are looking to drop the Hemi in it this month and get it fitted up nice next month. What’s the details on your truck?
