New here. I have a 1989 Dodge D100 regular cab shortbox 2wd that started life as a v6 4speed overdrive truck, that I've been wanting to swap in a mill with a few more ponies while still keeping it a 2wd manual transmission truck. It's pretty much a base model truck, no AC, no power windows, nothing fancy at all. With all that being said, which gen 3 hemiamd manual trans combo would be best to run in it? I've heard nv3500 will hook on to it but not sure how much truth there is to that.

HEMI SWAP
COMMUNITY
Welcome to the Hemi Swap Community! We want this to be an open forum where anyone can ask anything about the Hemi engine and doing Hemi Swaps. We find the information can be scattered all over the internet and want this to be a centralized place where we can talk amongst each other and share our questions and answers that may be able to help others going through similar Hemi swap situations. Please be kind to others and help out where you can while getting the information you need. Blake and Mike will be admins and answering questions here as well!

I also have been looking into this a lot recently because im planning my own swap. Seems like the nv4500 would be a good dodge truck transmission to use because it could handle the power and is pretty available locally through facebook, but I believe it will feel like a truck transmission when youre driving it as well, and I'd prefer it feel a little more sporty. The G56 is another candidate, also very strong and used in 3rd gen hemis. I think it would also shift like a truck transmission. I've seen others say to go to a t-56, which is a transmission used in more sporty applications like mustangs. I think this might be your best bet, but the cost is very high. For my swap ive been planning on going with the nv3500. I've heard its not really built to handle stock hemi power unless you go really easy on it, but I also believe its more sporty than the nv4500 or a g56, and the most cost effective. I plan on using a nv3500 for my swap because I've seen many trucks in my local yard with them, and I can get one really cheap so if it were to break I could replace it for a low cost. I'm trying to keep my cost low. Hope this input helps.
